Proform 1800 Treadmill – New Model From Established Company
The new
Proform 1800 treadmill has yet to receive
much acclaim either negative or positive. But a review of the features on the Proform 1800 treadmill
shows the model boasts many nice features, but still comes with a
less-than-perfect warranty that many have complained about in the past.
Manufactured by Icon, Proform's 1800 model is just one
in a large line of treadmills. Overall existing models have not stacked up well
against the competition. Icon is the maker of such lines of fitness equipment as
NordicTrack, Image and Weslo. The company has about 4,000 employees in 11
locations around the world and does carry a 25-year plus track record so
purchasers don’t have to worry about a company that will go out of business
tomorrow.
The Proform 1800 model comes with a 3.0 CHP
continuous-duty motor, offers a speed range of 0 to 12 miles per hour, has a
belt size of 19-by-55 inches, and can handle an incline range of about 0 to 14
percent. The treadmill incline rage offers about 2 percent more than the average
model on the market, making this machine worth a look for a serious trainer. In
addition, the 1800 model comes with a cooling fan, the company’s trademarked QuickIncline
control, cushioning, grip pulse sensors and eight built in programs. It retails
for about $1,900.

The problem with the Proform 1800 and many other of
the company’s models is the warranty. The standard Proform treadmill warranty
is billed as the 3-2-1 Tread Warranty. This covers the motor for three years,
all parts for two years and labor for a year. This particular feature does not
stand out against the competition, with many manufacturers offering at least 10
years on the motors.
While many of the company’s other treadmills have received
less-than-glowing reports in consumer treadmill ratings and
reviews, the Proform 1800
treadmill is new in the company’s line. The options are nice for the price, and
only time will tell if the bugs found in other models have been fixed.
