A Quality Treadmill Is Worth The Extra Money

(My Experience Shopping for a Treadmill)

The treadmill at the health club was a quality treadmill, a sophisticated device that provided a wealth of information about my speed, time, how many calories I was burning and even my heart rate. But going to the health club for my workout was a problem. In order to get quick access to the exercise machines I wanted to use, I had to schedule my exercise at 6 a.m., when the club opened its doors. Even then, I couldn’t be sure I would have quick access to the machines I wanted to use. For the money I had to spend at the fitness health club, I decided to could buy my own treadmill. But, I certainly didn’t need one of the best treadmills the health club used. Right?

I Wanted to Save Money and Bought a Cheap, Basic Model

So, I went to the local discount fitness equipment store and bought a treadmill. It was not one of the  treadmills as they had at the fitness health club. Not by a long shot. It didn’t have all of the best, quality features of the health club treadmill. I didn’t really need all of that, I told myself. All I needed was a basic treadmill for my workout routine. At least so I thought.

I Went Through Three Treadmills Within a Few Months

I used the inexpensive treadmill for less than 90 days. It quit working. The treadmill motor burned up. I took it back to the store. They replaced it under the warranty program. The replacement treadmill didn’t last as long as the first one. Again, the treadmill motor burned out. By this time I was really missing the treadmill at the health club. The mass merchandiser store replaced the treadmill a second time. The third one didn’t last any longer than the first two. I gave up. I didn’t even bother to take it back to the store. I went to a health equipment outlet and bought a treadmill from a brand name fitness equipment company.

Quality Components Make All the Difference

There are many reasons to buy the best exercise equipment you can get. First, treadmills made by top of the line fitness equipment companies are designed for use. The best treadmill motor is big enough to handle the load of driving the tread under the weight of the pounding of a runner or the lighter tread of a walker. The better treadmills have a number of quality features, including durability shock absorbing decks, thicker treads, stronger sprockets turning the treads, more powerful treadmill motors and better designed fans to cool the motors so they do not overheat.

I Could Have Saved a Bundle by Purchasing a Quality Machine in the First Place

Quality machines are often less expensive than cheap treadmills because of the years of service that they will give. Furthermore, treadmills purchased from reputable, established fitness equipment companies have treadmill parts and service that further support the long life of better machines and help reduce the cost. The treadmill that I have now has given me several years of good, trouble free service with near daily use. In the long run, this treadmill has been far more reliable and far less expensive than the cheap treadmills I found at the mass merchant.
