The Motor is the Most Important Feature
The most important feature on any treadmill is its motor rating. Small motors
(for
example, 1.75HP) are only for walkers, and you would need at least a 2.5HP
continuous duty motor if you plan to run on the treadmill every day. The Sole
S73 treadmill comes with a 3.0 HP Continuous Duty, DC type, ultra high torque
motor. That’s a mouthful of information but it says a lot.
First, continuous duty is a true measure of how the motor performs at the level
required consistently, as opposed to “peak use”. Inferior treadmills that are
advertised as “3.5HP Peak” are actually run by wimpy motors; they put out only
about 2.0HP continuous duty. Peak only refers to max horsepower for a short
period of time. (As for torque, that what moves things - or as they say with
cars: “Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall. Torque is how much of the wall
you take with you.” Ouch.)
Keep in mind that the larger and heavier the motor, the longer the treadmill is
going to last. Sole uses the best and heaviest motors in the business.
First in Service and Reputation
The Sole S73 comes with a lifetime warranty on the motor and frame; 5 years
warranty on the electronics, belt and rollers, and 2 years labor on in-home
service. What’s really amazing about Sole is they are the industry leader in
treadmills, but you don’t have to pay $500 extra just to buy the name. Every
penny you pay is right their in the machine. You get more for your money with
the Sole S73 treadmill.
